Singapore. Before work enforced my appearance here I was only aware of the cocktail and the flag. Lucky me, the Boss has experienced enough to ensure a pleasant stay whatever the commitment. Not that I wouldn't otherwise, I'm just slow on the uptake. Previously my only insistence would have been Raffles (gorgeous, by the way, but that's for another blog entry).

And so, a leisurely stroll along the Singapore River opened me up to not just the tourist haunts but the local endeavours... and street food (LOVE!).

Today, we were in desperate need of a "wind down" after a day of inspections and tours - I'm trying to make it sound like we were really busy.

It was my treat and cash was low but, I could still indulge us in a slice of luxury.

Step into the elevator of the Fullarton Bay to the Lantern, a stylish roof-top bar overlooking the Marina Bay framed by the city skyline and that majestic monstrosity of the Marina Bay Sands.

Service is sweet and polite. Atmosphere during the lunch-happy hour is comfortable and enjoyable. At this time of day (granted it was lunchtime Easter Sunday) we could sit, relax, wind down without the overbearing doof-doof or other guest shenanigans and delight in a beverage whilst musing over the views and atmosphere.

Seating was outdoors under a canopy but, when it started to rain, the cafe blinds came down to protect my water sensitive arse yet still unencumber the surrounding sights as we watched the storm clouds pass by from west to east.

Cocktail selection had their own take on the classics and then some but, being beer folk, thankfully there were the faithfuls to fall back on.

The tempting lunch menu was for another day with more time and more green however, complimentary bar snacks were refilled regularly with a smile and the seafood cocktail was an absolute treat to share!

Like I said, an indulgence. A delicious indulgence.
